Earl T. Stevens

Earl Stevens, 84, of Delmar passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice.

His funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Delmar. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Delmar.

Earl Thomas Stevens was born on May 6, 1932 in Clinton County, Iowa to Leo and Josephine (McDonald) Stevens. He married LaVonne Rubel on June 16, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. He was part of the U.S. Navy and He was a lifetime farmer.

Earl was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Delmar. He was a member of Delmar Lions, VFW, and former member of Maquoketa Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, camping, taking drives through the country, and ice cream. He was an Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He loved to take walks, and loved his family most of all.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Lavonne, daughter, Kim Stevens-Belk of Davenport, one granddaughter, Rachel Belk of St. Louis, Missouri, sister, Mary Robbins of Logansport, Indiana, brothers; Kenneth (Velma) Stevens of Ankeny and Richard (Sue) Stevens of Dewitt.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Gerald and Paul, and sister Kathleen.

Memorials may be left in his honor to St. Patrick’s Church or Hospice of Jackson County.
