Verlon R. Huston,80, of Davenport formerly of Wyoming passed away on April 16, 2023 at Promedica in Davenport.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Wyoming United Methodist Church where a visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am prior to his service. Burial will be at the Wyoming Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Services of Wyoming is caring for his family.
Verlon Ray was born on September 10, 1942 in Anamosa, Iowa to Paul and Anna Marie (Nowachek) Huston. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1960. On December 17, 1960 he was united in marriage to Karen Pavlista at the Wyoming United Methodist Church. In his earlier years he worked as Chief of Police for the city of Monticello and then worked at the Anamosa State Penitentiary as a Lieutenant until early retirement. Verlon farmed in Jones County for many years. Verlon was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved being outdoors. He always enjoyed his family camping trips to Sturgeon Bay, WI and playing cards with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Karen, daughter Donna (Dean Dick) Huston, son Daniel Huston all of Davenport, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter on the way, two brothers; Dennis (Phyllis) Huston, Clifton Huston both of Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Doreen Agan and a brother Richard Huston.
