Philip Ehlinger Obituary

Philip Ehlinger, 60, of Davenport passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at his home.

 

His funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. A visitation will be held prior the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial at a later date will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery in South Garryowen, Iowa. Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service of Maquoketa is caring for Philip’s family at this time.

 

Philip was born in Jackson County on May 30, 1958 to Cyril and Avalene  (Small) Ehlinger. He graduated from Maquoketa High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Marycrest College. He worked for Curley’s Tires in Maquoketa, Swiss Valley Farms for five years and then as a Nutritional Specialist at the Lutheran Home and Salvation Army Rehab Center. Philip was an avid Pittsburg Steelers and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.  Philip was an easy going, pleasant person to be around.  He also spent much of his time fishing.

 

Those left to cherish his memories are his mother Avalene "Avie" of Bernard,  his siblings; Gary (Carol) Ehlinger of Maquoketa, Debra Oldham of Davenport, Randy Ehlinger of Zwingle, Greg Ehlinger of Bernard, Sandra (Jeff) Mason of DeWitt, Lynn (Sharon) Ehlinger of Maquoketa, Lori (Dave) Serrano II of Davenport, twelve nieces and nephews; Tonya Flenker, Craig Ehlinger, Keith Oldham, Chelsea Robinson, Christa Oldham, Jack Mason, Ben Mason, Nicholas Ehlinger, Natalie Ehlinger, Nathaniel Ehlinger, Nolan Ehlinger and Nora Ehlinger and many aunts and uncles.

 

He is preceded in death by his father Cyril.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Philip’s family in his honor.
