John F. Hayes

John F. Hayes, 83, of Maquoketa passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Maquoketa. Dawson Funeral Services is caring for the family.

John Francis was born on July 12, 1937 in Bellevue, Iowa to Robert and Marcella (Even) Hayes. He attended Jackson County Rural Schools before he moved to Maquoketa where he graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1955.  After High School he took some business courses before he he took a position working as an inventory controller at Iowa Manufacturing Company in Cedar Rapids (Cedar Rapids Company).  He held various positions in the company until he retired.

John was a long term member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa and was active in the Knights of Columbus #8269 and was the financial secretary for several years.

Those left to cherish his memories are his sister Marcella (Sally Hayes) Davidson of Maquoketa and a brother Kenneth Hayes of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  There is also a niece and two nephews residing in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Arizona.  

John is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carrol.
