George Fuegen, 92, of LaMotte passed away on August 27, 2019 in his home.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek with a visitation being held from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Maquoketa before the service. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Maquoketa with Military Honors.
George Michael was born in Sugar Creek Iowa on May 28, 1927 to Leo and Josephine (Banowetz) Fuegen. He married Madonna Hughes on May 4, 1957 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Clinton. He served for two years faithfully and honorably in the United States Army, most of that time being served in Korea.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek. He loved to farm, it was his lifelong career and love.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Madonna, children; Pat Fuegen of LaMotte, Dr. Kathleen (Dr. Patrick Owen) Fuegen of Cincinnati, Sherry (Matt) Caes of Cummings, Kansas, eight grandchildren, two sisters; Bernie (Arlin) Kilburg of Maquoketa, Viola (Don) Kilburg of Maquoketa, three brothers; Clarence Fuegen of Clinton, Gerald Fuegen of Maquoketa and Duane Fuegen of Preston.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Kathryn and daughter Mary Ann.
