Walter S. Edwards, 78, of Maquoketa passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Dawson Funeral Services in Maquoketa. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 on Wednesday, March 16 at Dawson Funeral Services. Burial will be at Streets Cemetery in rural Maquoketa.
Walter Sherman was born on April 1, 1943 in Maquoketa to Sanford and Ethel (Chase) Edwards. On June 9, 1964 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Barbara Hank in Andalusia, Iowa. Walter was a “Jack of all Trades”. He worked at Bahl’s Lumbar, Clinton Engines and Huddings in Muscatine. He owned and operated Edwards and Manning Tree Service. Walter had a huge heart, he and his wife fostered many children over the years. He loved working in his garage on lawn mowers or spending his time hunting. He enjoyed playing cards, checkers and most importantly he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Barbara, four daughters; Kathy (Frank Mitchell) Bollinger, Brenda (Bill) Hayward, Barbie VanAmburg all of Maquoketa, Trisha (Brad) Steines of Bellevue, fourteen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson, three sisters; Linda Said, Nellie Clark, Joan Manning all of Maquoketa and two brothers; Sandy (Barb) Edwards of Charlotte and Willard (Rosie) Edwards of Maquoketa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Dena, son Drew, grandson Derek and two sisters; Jane and Nancy.
