Steven R. Barth, 82, of Melbourne, FL formerly of Oxford Junction, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at VITAS Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Unit in Rockledge, Florida.
A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 am on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. His funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 31 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction. Dawson Funeral Services of Oxford Junction is caring for his family.
Steven Robert was born on March 16, 1942 in Anamosa to Robert and Louise (Jarosh) Barth. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he faithfully and honorably served in Germany. On January 6, 1962 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Joan Benischek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. He worked for Rockwell Collins holding several job titles such as Purchaser and Buyer until retirement in 2002. Steven enjoyed golfing, traveling, fishing with his family at Leech Lake, MN and playing Euchre. He was an avid bowler and was in several leagues over the years. His greatest joy came when he was playing board games and spending time with his family. He was grateful and privileged to be chosen to attend an Honor Flight. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sertoma Service Club where he was awarded Sertoma of the year. Steven was known for being an “Expert Rifle Man”.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 62 years Joan, three children: Sheri Abarr of Titusville, FL, Roberta “Bobbi” (Rick) Allebach of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, Dean (Diane) Barth of Walker, Iowa, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph and his son Steven Robert II.
