Sandra “Sandy” Becker-Franzen, 69, of Monmouth passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Calkins Barn in Wyoming, Iowa. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday May 30 at 10:00 am at the Calkins Barn. Her burial will take place at the Smithtown Cemetery in rural Lost Nation. Dawson Funeral Services of Wyoming is caring for her family.
Sandy was born on July 16, 1954 in Mason City, Iowa to Wayne “Buzzy” and Erma (Johnson) Eygabroad. In 1973 she graduated from Rock Falls High School. On August 14, 1976 she was united in marriage to Noel Becker at the Methodist Church in Rock Falls, he preceded her in death in 2004. She married Michael Franzen on October 24, 2015 at the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. Sandy worked as a teachers aid for over 20 years for the Midland School District. Also throughout the years she worked as a waitress for the Pub Club in Lost Nation. She is a member of the Christ's Community Church in Monmouth and was a former member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation where she served for many years. Sandy enjoyed playing cards, camping, watching the Food Channel and going on long SxS with her husband. Sandy truly loved retirement. She was a proud grandma and never missed one of her son’s or grandchildren’s activities. Her greatest blessing in life was her family, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Mike, son Nathan (Janna) Becker of Monmouth, three stepchildren; Sheri (Kirk) Dosland, Chuck (Krista) Franzen and Scott (Amber) Franzen, two grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and two sisters; Kathy (Jesse) Diaz of Thorton, CO, Julie (Mark) Zachmeyer of Omaha, NE and her beloved cat Pepper.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Noel Becker, son Nicholas.
