Armstrong, Robert J. (BJ) passed away on October 18, 2025 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. BJ, as he was known to his family, was born on December 7, 1977 at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana while his father served in the U.S. Air Force. He would later welcome home his sister Nicole who was born at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
BJ traveled and lived in many states while his Dad served in the Air Force. While growing up, BJ participated in outdoor and athletic activities including the Boy Scouts of America. After his high school years in Maryland, BJ embarked on a career in the craft beer industry working for companies in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Missouri. He loved crossword puzzles and would often challenge his Grandma Janie to see who could complete the puzzle the quickest. He was a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens and although living in Kansas City, MO for many years, BJ could not and did not switch his allegiance to the Chiefs or Royals.
BJ is survived by his father Mike of Fallston, MD, his sister Nicole of Monkton, MD, nephews Michael, Jack, Ryan, aunts and uncles, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and uncle Jinks.
A private family service will be held at the Dawson Funeral Services of Wyoming, IA (his cousin Courtney is the funeral owner and director) and Bill Armstrong (his uncle) officiated the ceremony. BJ will be buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville, Iowa next to his paternal Grandparents Grant and Janie Armstrong.
