Richard J. Davis

Richard Davis, 66,  of Dubuque, passed away on June 7, 2023 at home. 

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Dawson Funeral Services in Maquoketa. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Delmar.

Richard was born November 1, 1956 to Virgil and Mary (Kedley) Davis of rural Delmar, Iowa.  He attended the Delwood school system and graduated in 1975.  He excelled in cross country.

He married Joy Allison on April 29, 1978 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Delmar.  They had two children: Amy (Davis) Bean and Laura (Davis) Perry.  They divorced in 2000.

Richard worked in the body shop at John Wagener Ford in Maquoketa and at Precision Metal Works for several years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with friends and family.

He is survived by his daughters, Amy (Daniel) Bean of Maquoketa, Laura Perry of Dubuque, a sister-in-law Nancy Davis of Waupun, Wisconsin, sisters Loretta (Tom) Thein of Monticello, Iowa and Diane (Steven) McKenrick of Kearney, NE and brothers, Mike (Lisa) of Davenport, IA, Scott (Susan) of LeClaire and Steven of Maquoketa, IA, and three grandchildren – Allison, Adam and Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Virgil Davis, a brother Lynn and a nephew John Davis.
