Phyllis J. Huston

Phyllis Jean Huston, 74, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away on April 16, 2026, at Prairie Hills in Tipton, Iowa.

Phyllis was born on September 8, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Oren and Luva (Yoder) Jones. She graduated from West Branch High School.

She worked at the Cedar County Courthouse in Tipton and later at the University of Iowa in the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Philosophy Department as a secretary for over 30 years.

In August of 1978, she was united in marriage to Denny Huston. Phyllis was devoted to her faith and an active member in her church community. She volunteered with the SPARKS program and taught Sunday School for many years. 

She had a caring and giving heart and was always willing to help others. She especially loved her family and cherished time spent with them. She enjoyed cross-stitching and was known for always having Tootsie Rolls on hand for her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Denny Huston of Wyoming; her children, Cindy (Rick Kilburg) Meyer of Bellevue, Kim (Jason) Feuss of Lost Nation, Cindi (Scott) Weeks of Janesville, WI,, and Demi (Brandon) Franck of DeWitt; her siblings, Sherry (Myron)
Luers of Keota, Dennis (Rhonda) Jones of Lovington, NM, and Pam Jones of Muscatine; sister-in-law Marcia Huston of Monticello, and brother-in-law Cliff Huston of Wyoming; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Richard Huston, mother-in-law and father-in-law Anna Marie and Paul Huston, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Verlon and Karen Huston.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Wyoming Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Wyoming Cemetery.
