Matthew W. Wenndt

Matthew (Matt) Winston Wenndt, 52, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 7th 2025, in Lisbon, Iowa.

Born on March 26, 1972, in Waterloo, Iowa son of Duane and Janice Wenndt of Wyoming Iowa. Matt was the middle child. His youth was spent on the family farm helping in raising cattle, participating in 4H activities, and enjoying time with his siblings and many cousins.

Matt married his wife Amy in 1993, and became an instant father to two young children before Amy and Matt had a child together.

He dedicated his career to Firestone, where he worked for 31 years and earned numerous accolades as a Top Tech in his district. His commitment to his profession was evident – though he may have had his share of complaints about the job, he truly loved what he did.

Matthew’s strength extended beyond his work. Despite facing significate health challenges, he never gave in. His stubborn determination kept him pushing forward, always striving to continue on. Matthew enjoyed hunting in his younger days. He loved to ride, talk, look at any Harley Davidson he saw. His favorite hobby was lifting weights even when he wasn’t feeling the best – he still pushed on,

Above all else Matt loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Amy:  son Lars Ledford of Eugene, Oregon; daughter Stephanie (Zach) Fillmore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Cameron Wenndt of Newhall, Iowa; parents Duane and Janice Wenndt of Wyoming Iowa; Sister Elaine (Dan) Michels of Llano, California; brother Jonathan Wenndt of Peoria, Arizona; 3 grandchildren Harper, Hudson, Ezra, two nephews Alex and Andrew and a niece Rachel and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Matthew will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, husband, father and Papa. A man whose strength and perseverance left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, where his memorial service will be held at 11:00 am.  Cards of condolences may be directed to Dawson Funeral Services Attn: Matthew Wenndt Family PO Box 258 Wyoming, Iowa 52362.
