Marvin E. LaFayette

Marvin E. LaFayette, 93, of Maquoketa passed away on June 30, 2020 at the Maquoketa Care Center.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 3 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Dawson Funeral Services in Maquoketa. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Maquoketa.

Marvin Eugene was born on September 14, 1926 in Iowa City to Everett and Ella (McCloy) LaFayette. He graduated high school and went on to earn a degree from Waterloo Business College. He faithfully and honorably served in the United States Army from 1944-1946, serving in Japan.

For many years he worked at Goodyear Tire and Auto in Atlanta, Georgia. Marvin was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa and Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in Lithonia, Georgia.

Those left to cherish his memories are his close friends; Steve & Julie Kinrade, Zachary & Lizzie Kinrade, Hannah Kinrade, Isaac & Norah Kinrade, Sarah Kinrade, Abraham Kinrade, Bruce & Judy Kinrade, Carmen & Mike Kleinsmith, Chris Kinrade, Charlie & Debbie Scott, John Neal & Hailey Scott and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous in his honor.
