Marcella "Sally" Davidson

Marcella “Sally” Davidson, 82, of Maquoketa passed away on Wednesday March 15, 2023 at Clover Ridge Nursing Home.

A visitation was held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa and a funeral Mass followed. The Catholic Daughters of America recited the Rosary Prayer prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Maquoketa at a later date.

Sally was born on January 16, 1941 on a farm in Jackson County, Iowa to Robert and Marcella (Even) Hayes. Sally graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1959, then attended Marycrest Collage where she received a Bachelor’s in Education and teaching certificate degree in 1963 then moved on to a year of graduate work at The University of Maryland. On May 16, 1970 she was united in marriage to Daniel Davidson in Washington D.C. She worked as a high school teacher then worked in the travel agency field for several years. Sally was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa and Catholic Daughters St. Raphael #1156, and the Jackson County Historical Society. Sally enjoyed keeping busy, gardening, reading, traveling, and working at the Museum.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Daniel, son, Rob (Michela) Davidson, granddaughter, Stella Davidson of Phoenix, AZ and one brother Kenneth Hayes of Broken Arrow, OK.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol, and brother John.
