Madelyne Cathryn Hall
January 21, 1935 – August 2, 2025
Madelyne Cathryn Celania Hall, 90, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 2, 2025, at the Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence, Iowa.
Madelyne was born on January 21, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Anthony Celania and Madelyne (Pohlson) Celania. She was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Rose and Charlie Davis. She graduated from Ottumwa Heights Academy High School.
On November 15, 1958, Madelyne was united in marriage to Hurley Hall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. Their bond was one of mutual respect, laughter, and deep devotion—a partnership that spanned more than 66 years. Side by side, they raised their children and created a warm, welcoming home filled with the aroma of Madelyne’s homemade pies, the soft purring of her beloved cats, and the joyful sounds of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an overall wonderful cook for her family and friends with her specialty in baking pies. She has passed down that love to her children and grandchildren. Madelyne had “a servants heart” and she lived that to the fullest
A devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction, Madelyne lived a life of kindness and quiet strength. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—baking, caring for her animals, and spending time with her family, whom she cherished above all else.
She is survived by her loving husband, Hurley Hall; three children: Todd (Deb) Hall, Tracy (Michael) McMahon, and Trisha (Mark) Maloney; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three half-brothers: Michael Celania, Bob Celania, and Richard Celania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle, Rose and Charlie Davis, three sisters; two brothers and one grandchild, Crystal.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dawson Funeral Services in Oxford Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction.
Memorials may be directed to Above and Beyond Hospice or to her family, to be used in support of various local charities she loved.
