Lyle D. Watters, 92, of Wyoming passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming. A visitation will be held at Dawson Funeral Services on Wednesday, July 5 from 3:00-7:00 pm. Burial will be at the Wyoming Cemetery with Military Honors.
Lyle Delbert Watters was born on March 29, 1931 in Linn County, Iowa to Thomas and Helen (Davis) Watters. He faithfully and honorably served in the United States Marines from 1951-1954. In 1955 he was united in marriage to Lorna McCalmant at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church. Lyle was a hard worker who farmed, worked at Clinton Engines and worked at Jones County Road Maintenance for 26 years until retirement. Lyle was a proud member of the Wyoming Post #259 of the American Legion. He is a past member of the Wyoming Presbyterian Church and a current member of the Wyoming Methodist Church. Lyle loved to spend his free time gardening, hunting and especially spending time with his family.
Those left to honor his memory are his three children; Rick Watters, Cindy Henak, Pam Cooper, six grandchildren; Gabe Watters, Tim Watters, Jenni Watters, Shawn Christiansen, Amanda Hurlbut, Ciera Cooper, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters; Janice (Garrett) Gerdes, Linda (Ron) Cox, a special friend Pat McCalmant and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorna, three sisters: Dolores Edwards, Tommye DeMoss, Nancy Rickels Miller Halter, a brother-in-law Dick McCalmant, son Will Watters and a granddaughter Jessica Larrimore.
