Lucile Evelyn Schurbon, 100, of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on April 5, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation, with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Lost Nation Cemetery. Clergy officiating will be Rev. Roberta Pierce. Dawson Funeral Services of Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Lucile was born August 18, 1925, in Iowa, the daughter of Loyal and Opal (Lockwood) Easton. She graduated from high school and later married Milton Schurbon on February 3, 1946, at Clinton Methodist Church. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Lucile worked at Burpee Seed Company in accounting and was also a dedicated farm wife. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation, where she was active in quilting and helping with church activities. She found joy in caring for her family and especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Diane (F. Warren) Ihns of Baldwin, Michael (Janis) Schurbon of Swisher, Marcia (Paul) Kleinsmith, and Brian (Natalie) Schurbon, both of Lost Nation; Grandchildren: Brent (Jessica) Ihns, Becky (Jacob) Petersen, Melissa (Cameron) Ford, Robb (Tammy) Schurbon, Jamison (Brandi) Schurbon, Chad (Jessica) Thomas, Scott (Alicia) Thomas, Ryne (Lacey) Kleinsmith, Emily Kleinsmith, Natasha Yarolem (Michael Groves), Tyler (Kayla) Schurbon and Briana Schurbon. Great Grandchildren: Ella Thompson, Nora Ford, Easton Ford, Clara Ihns, Charlotte Ihns, Heinrich Ihns, Johann Ihns, Callie Petersen, Coy Petersen, Josie Petersen, Brooke Schurbon, Paige Schurbon, Colin Thomas, Basil Thomas, Brooks Kleinsmith, Jack Kleinsmith, Bryson Yarolem, Archer Groves, Delilah Groves and Kora Schurbon. Great-Great Grandchildren: Saige Petersen and Sutton Kunde.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton; her sisters, Marjorie Behne, Frances Seaton, Camilla Wulf, and Doris Andersen.
