Karen Jean Temple (née Schladetzky) was born on June 26, 1941, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Geraldine (née Ireland) and John H. Schladetzky. She graduated from Olin High School and attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Karen possessed a passion for music, demonstrated by her participation in numerous large choruses and church choirs, as well as her talent for playing the organ and providing lessons. She was also a skilled seamstress, and enjoyed quilting. Her enthusiasm for travel led her to visit countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and the Tahiti islands.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Pamela J. Matthews (Dave) and Deborah Rocha (Joel); grandsons, Brian Cunningham and Jacob Cunningham (Molly); great grandsons, Oliver and Asher Cunningham; stepson Webster S. Temple (Sue); stepdaughter Marlene Spears; step-grandchildren; sister Gerilyn Hansen (Chuck); and her cherished Morkie, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Webster A. Temple, and granddaughter Katie Cunningham.
A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Antioch Cemetery in rural Anamosa.
