John A. Egger

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Olin Cemetery at a later date. 

John Andrew was born on March 9, 1960 in Manchester, Iowa to Roland and Josephine (Lewis) Egger. He attended West Delaware High School and graduated from Marengo. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he faithfully and honorably served. On July 3, 2005 he was united in marriage to Christine “Babe” Jacobson in Olin. 
John was an avid bowler and enjoyed slow pitch softball, horseshoes, camping and bonfires. You could always find him riding his Harley softail or attending Iowa Hawkeye games. He especially looked forward to the bowl games. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Lori (Josh) Hempstead of Manchester, Tom (Jenna) Egger of Cedar Rapids, Mike Egger of Fairfax, John Jacobsen of West Virginia, five grandchildren; Kenzi, Elliot, Presley, Memphis, Myah, two sisters; Barbara Rastovski of Indiana, Jeanette (Michael) Muller of Maquoketa and a brother Ron (Beckie) Egger of California. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

His family is devastated at his loss. They ask that you take mental health and suicide awareness seriously. Don’t be afraid to reach out to those you care about.
