Joelle Stoddard Obituary

Joelle M. Kinney Stoddard, 59, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, with her family by her side at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Lost Nation on Thursday, December 26, 2024. A Celebration of Joelle’s life will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lost Nation on Thursday, December 26, at 3:00 p.m.

Joelle Marie was born on November 11, 1965, in DeWitt, Iowa, to Charles Kinney and Maureen McAuliffe Kinney. She graduated from Andrew High School and attended Hawkeye Barber College and Commonwealth Business College. On January 23, 1988, she was united in marriage to Guy Stoddard in Maquoketa and later divorced. Although her career was as an insurance underwriter, she would get her scissors if her family needed a haircut. Joelle was a “6 B’s Social Club” member and volunteered at the Erie School District. She loved crocheting, reading, and being on the water.

She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, competitiveness while playing a mean game of Spoons, ability to sing loudly off-key, and her love for margaritas. She was a true artist who was “classically” trained by Bob Ross. Last September, she embarked on her dream trip to Ireland with her family, where they visited their family wishing well. She was so proud of her “grands” and believed in every one of them.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children: Zach (Jessi) Stoddard of Clinton, Derek Stoddard of Clinton, Nick (Kristen) Stoddard of Illinois, Connie (Mike) Nicholson of Alabama, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a bonus grandchild. Two sisters: Charleen (Joe) Kilburg of LaMotte, Robbi (Brad) Haase of Minnesota, brother Kevin (Janet) Kinney of Ohio and bonus sisters, Kim (Todd) James and Stacy (Ben) Traver.

She is preceded in death by her parents, bonus mom Jane Kinney, and her sister Michelle.

Memorials may be directed to her family in her honor. Cards of condolences may be mailed to Dawson Funeral Services Attn; Joelle Stoddard Family PO Box 258 Wyoming, Iowa 52362.
