Janet L. Fishwild

Janet Louise Fishwild, age 77, passed away peacefully. She was born on May 14, 1948, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Loren and Naomi (Fagan) Stewart.

Janet graduated from Lisbon High School in 1966 and went on to earn her cosmetology license. She worked at Armstrong Beauty Salon for nine years, where she enjoyed helping others feel their best. On February 28, 1970, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry D. Fishwild, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Later in life, Janet worked in production at Hunter Specialties for 13 years, retiring in 2007. Known for her strong work ethic, she never sat still for long. She enjoyed crafting, going to garage sales, and splitting wood—activities that reflected her practical nature and love of staying busy. She provided in-home daycare for 15 years and treasured the lasting relationships she formed with the families and children she cared for. 

Janet is survived by her children, Doug (Jennifer) Fishwild of Cedar Rapids and Alisha (Henry) Martinson of Marion; her two beloved granddaughters, Piper and Isabel; and her sisters-in-law, Susan (Kevin) Ellison and Shelley Fishwild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; her brother, Dorn (Karen) Stewart; her niece, Maria Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Patty, who passed away in infancy.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., also at Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
