Gerald "Jerry" Feltes

Gerald Feltes, 96, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2021 at Wheatland Manor.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday November 4, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa at 11:00 A.M. Burial with Military Honors will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Maquoketa.

Gerald was born on February 6, 1925 in Bellevue, Iowa to Joe and Marie (Stamp) Feltes. He grew up in Maquoketa, Iowa. He joined the Army and served in the South Pacific during WWII.

He married Helen (Duffy) on July 6th 1950. They had 3 children, Cathy, John and Richard. He was a handyman and a jack of all trades and the master of them all. He was old school, measure twice and cut once. He worked for two men most of his life, Bob Jones and Cliff Lamborn. He had many stories about work, from moving trailer homes on narrow roads or bridges to fixing whatever needed to be done. He enjoyed fishing, reading, a game of cards, camping and traveling. In later years he liked going to casinos and eating at buffets.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Cathy (John) Vachris, son Richard (Denise) Feltes, sister Joan Ostert, brother Moe Feltes, niece Joyce, nephew David, and great-nephew Josh.

He is preceded in death by his wife, son John, daughter-in-law Jane, his parents, and sisters Janet Schmidt and Dolores Waterman.
