Geniyah Morgan Obituary

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, student and friend Geniyah Brielle Morgan left this world unexpectedly, early Friday morning on November 18, 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Calkins Barn in Wyoming, Iowa at 4:00 pm with a visitation to follow until 6:00 pm.

Geniyah was born in Gary, Indiana (The G.I.) as she would call it, on Thursday, August 10, 2012 to Brittany Qualls and General Morgan, V. Geniyah grew up on the west and south side parts of Chicago, Illinois and Onslow, Iowa. Geniyah attended 5th grade at Midland Elementary School in Oxford Junction, Iowa where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team #10 (Go Eagles). As Geniyah began to grow inside of her mother’s belly, Geniyah was never shy of sending “feed me more” signals to her mother Brittany. Before she became known as Geniyah, her Tee-Tee Brandi gave Geniyah the nickname “Yummy” because, no matter what Geniyah’s mother ate, Geniyah was sure to sound the alarm for seconds and sometimes thirds. At an early age, Geniyah loved to watch Mickey Mouse and the Mickey Mouse Club House; it was from there that Geniyah gained the nickname “Oh Toodles” by her Grandma Kim. Nicknames for Geniyah didn’t stop there. Geniyah would later go by several more nicknames; Toothfosies; Best Friend, Geni, Nieces Pieces, and Boobie and Stink from mom and dad. Geniyah, then became the biggest fan of the Disney Picture “Frozen” Oh, and the song “Let it Go” from the movie soundtrack became a house hold anthem. Geniyah also loved gymnastics, dancing, and especially making Tiktok videos; in Geniyah’s words; “I’m gone be TikTok famous“. Geniyah was also well known for being the “Kickball Queen” on the playground, and making new friends. Geniyah always brought a smile to everyone’s face. Geniyah will be remembered by her very loving parents, Brittany Qualls and General Morgan, V; five sisters, Shamiyah, Layloni, Mariyah, Winter, and Kaylani; one brother, Kyrin; grandparents, Kimberly Qualls, maternal grandmother of Chicago, IL and Tina Dudley, Paternal grandmother of Chicago, IL; Dario Holland, Sr. maternal grandfather of Chicago, IL, and General Morgan, IV, paternal grandfather of Chicago; one paternal great-grandmother, Bernice Burkett, a host of aunts, uncles, extended family, classmates, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her oldest brother, Baby Geno Morgan (stillborn) 08/11/2011. Geniyah was so fortunate to have such a large and loving family. Valarie Lee Duncan was her bonus maternal grandmother. Momma Val/ Grandma Val was called home to be with our beloved Geniyah on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Geniyah touched the lives of so many; our beloved, shining, happy girl, the light of our lives and the star of our hearts and leaves us smiling through our tears.

Please spread her message of love, dance, laughter and kindness to one another. Cards of condolences may be mailed to Dawson Funeral Services Attn: Geniyah Morgan Family Po Box 258 Wyoming, Iowa 52362.
