Gary C. King, 69, of Lowden passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 12:00-4:00 pm at the Hurtsville Interpretive Center 18670 63rd Street, Maquoketa, Iowa. Gary Casper King was born on January 28, 1954 in Davenport, Iowa to Jack King and Janice Brady. On October 6, 1990 he was united in marriage to Lois Shurte at their home in Seattle, Washington. He was self-employed as a painter over the years. He was an avid pool player and enjoyed golf and watching sports. Gary collected many records over the years and a great love for music. In his youth he enjoyed traveling. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and loved animals of any kind. Gary spent his free time carving antlers and made many keepsakes over the years for his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Lois, a daughter Emerald “Emmy” Frommelt, a granddaughter Vivian Frommelt, his parents Janice (Jerry) Yarolem Sr., sister Sandy King, brother Bruce (Kathy) Tracy, two step-sisters: Cathy (Dwayne) Rupp, Jeannie (Clint) Hoeger and a step-brother JR Yarolem, two brother in laws: Howard (Shirley) Shurte and Kevin (Kathy) Shurte.
