Eleanor M. Sheldon

Eleanor M. Sheldon, 91, of Lost Nation passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa.

Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of her service. Burial will be at a later date at the Lost Nation Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Services is caring for her family.

Eleanor Marie was born on October 22, 1932 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota to Hubert and Lillian (Mills) Glynn, the second of four children; She attended Stewartville High School, in Minnesota for her first three years and then moved to Lost Nation in 1949 where she graduated from Lost Nation High School. On October 14, 1950 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Edmund Elias Sheldon at the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. She worked at A.T. &T. Co. in Chicago, Clinton Engines, the local veterinarian Dr. Kenneth Randolph, Schoenthaler, Schoenthaler and Roberg, Maquoketa State Bank the Lost Nation Public Library and the Lost Nation Community School. She was former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chicago and the First Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. Currently she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. Eleanor always enjoyed volunteering for many groups in her community such as Women of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Eve Circle, Hearthstone Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Maquoketa Jaycettes, Lost Nation Lions Club and the Lost Nation Garden Club.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Edmund, two children Daniel (Kathy Lidke) Sheldon of Lost Nation, LuAnn (Reinhardt) Rosson, four grandchildren; Chad (Marisa) Sheldon, Candy Jo (Chad Conwell) Sheldon, Sarah (Alex) Rosson and Holly Meade, two great grandchildren and a sister Elaine Goodrum of Ray, Minnesota.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Naaman and Erwin, son Steven and a daughter-in-law Patty.
