Donald E. Crist

Donald Crist, 93, passed away Tuesday January 3, 2023, at Genesis East in Davenport.

Don’s family is respecting his wishes and not having any services at this time.

Don was born on July 7, 1929, in Anamosa, Iowa to Emerson and Anna (Goldsmith) Crist. Don faithfully served in the United States Armed Forces from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict War. He married Aljean Brown of Monmouth on July 26, 1952, at the Maquoketa Methodist Church. Donald worked 27 years for Corps of Engineers on the Lock and Dam in Saverton, Missouri, Dubuque, and Bellevue Iowa, retiring in 1989. Don is a lifetime member of NARFE, Second Division Association, 2nd Infantry Division, Korean War Veterans Alliance, and 2nd Indianhead Division Association. He is a former member of the Bellevue Masonic Temple #51. Don loved to travel, camp, enjoyed woodworking, reading veteran novels, reading old westerns, and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years Aljean; daughters, “The Crist Girls”; Barbara (Dwight) Reigert of Oregon, Linda Merchie of Wyoming, IA, Vicki Ratajesak of California, Kathryn (James) Wylie of Maquoketa, IA, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Robert and Verilyn, two sisters; Maxine Gilmore and Dorothy White.
