Donald John Buchholtz, 92, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home.
Donald was born April 8, 1934, in Iowa, the son of Fred and Elsie (Bahnsen) Buchholtz. He was united in marriage to Earlene on July 3, 1954, and she preceded him in death in 2003. Don later shared over 20 years with his companion, Joan Martensen.
Don was a hardworking man who owned and operated his own trucking business for many years. He took great pride in his work and the life he built. He also built a pulling semi known as “King of the Road,” something he truly enjoyed and took pride in. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and spending winters in Florida and proudly recorded a hole-in-one. He was a founding member of the Little Bear Country Club and remained actively involved there for many years.
He is survived by his companion, Joan Martensen; his children, Rick (Iris) Buchholtz, Dave (Kim) Buchholtz, a sister Diane Carstensen; a brother Daryl Buchholtz, three grandchildren, Keegan (Katelynn), Brent, and Brandon; and three great-grandchildren, Kohyn Kynlee, and Kalan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene; his parents; a sister-in-law Tootie and a brother-in-law Donald.
A private graveside service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Services of Wyoming is caring for his family. Memorials may be directed to the Wyoming Fire Department or Midland Ambulance in his honor. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dawsonfuneral.com.
