Dean J. Spain, 74, of Maquoketa passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his home.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at “His Shop” at a later date. Dawson Funeral Services of Maquoketa is assisting the family.
Dean Joseph was born on March 24, 1946 in Delmar, Iowa to Ambrose and Geraldine (McDonald) Spain. He graduated from Delwood High School in 1964. On June 1, 1968 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Pamela Appelhans at Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa. For over 33 year he worked for the Post Office and he was a lifelong farmer. Even after retirement he still had part time jobs including the Post Office a couple of days a week. He enjoyed the public and socializing with many people.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Pamela of Maquoketa, two sons; Shawn Spain of Greene, Iowa and Patrick “PJ” Spain of Maquoketa, four grandchildren, three sisters; Patricia (Gene) Held of Barstol, Ill, Donna Determan of DeWitt, Diane (Mel) Seng of Davenport and two brothers; Dennis (Renee) Spain of DeWitt and Alan Spain of Clinton.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Duane.
