Danette Pestka, 56, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Danette was born on November 22, 1968, to Melvin and Sharon (Jeffery) Latare. On June 17, 1989, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clay Pestka, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction. Together they built a family filled with love and cherished memories.

She enjoyed being outdoors, especially on beautiful days, and had a love for gardening and animals. Danette graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1987 and went on to earn her degree in medical transcribing from Kirkwood Community College. She worked in the medical field as both a transcriptionist and receptionist at St. Luke’s Hospital, later worked for the United States Post Office, and also dedicated her time as a homemaker. She was a DoTerra representative and was passionate about her natural lifestyle and essential oils.

Danette is survived by her husband, Clay; their children, Logan (Charli) Pestka, Kelsey (Charlie) Roller, and Brady Pestka; seven beloved grandchildren; and her siblings, Rhonda (Mark) Ingwersen, Brad (LeeAnn) Latare, and Lyndon Latare.

Her greatest joy came from her family, and she will be remembered for her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Oxford Junction Legionnaire, with times to be announced. Dawson Funeral Services of Oxford Junction is assisting the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
