Dallas "Sonny" Wakefield Jr.

Dallas E. “Sonny” Wakefield, Jr. 67, of Maquoketa passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Dawson Funeral Services of Maquoketa is caring for his family.

Dallas was born on May 4, 1956 in Bluegrass, Iowa to Dallas and Jackie (Geest) Wakefield, Sr. He attended Davenport West High School. On May 11, 2019 he was united in marriage to Abby Gorsuch in Davenport. Dallas worked as a union carpenter for over 30 years. He is a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #4. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He attended Wilderness Guide School in Montana and lead several guides in Wyoming over the years. He had an impeccable skill when it came to his bow and arrow.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Abby of Maquoketa, two children; Dallas Wakefield III of Davenport, Stephanie Shae Wakefield of Rock Island, step-daughter Kallie (Derek) Barnhart of DeWitt, six grandchildren, Dallas Wakefield IIII “Little D”, Ella, Austin, Jesse, Stephen and Bevie and two brothers; Tim (Laura) Wakefield of Durant and Jody (Sandy) Wakefield of Camdenton, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
