With heartfelt sadness, we share the news of Arlo George Yarolem, 86, of Maquoketa, who passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am on the same day, also at Sacred Heart Church. Luncheon to follow his mass at Sacred Heart School Cafeteria. Burial with military honors will take place at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction.
Arlo was born on May 11, 1938, in Jones County, Iowa, to George and Lydia (Marek) Yarolem. He graduated from Monmouth Community High School and later completed electronic courses at Clinton Community College. Arlo faithfully and honorably served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. In his early career, he worked at Clinton Engines and later held the position of Plant Manager at Ensign Coil Company in Bellevue and Mexico. After retiring, he worked for Deery Motors in Maquoketa. Arlo had a passion for golfing, the thrill of fishing from his canoe, the exhilaration of snowmobiling, and the freedom of riding his motorcycle.
His legacy will undoubtedly live on through his loving family, which includes siblings Ronald (Sue) Yarolem of Davenport, Vivian Redmond of Davenport, Rosemary Dreismeier of Springville, along with nieces and nephews: Cynthia (Larry) Bender, Dianna (Randy) Amhof, Dennis Redmond, Michelle (Gary) Klinzman, Rodney (Andrea) Dreismeier, Tammy Dirks, as well as several great-nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by two close friends, Audene Voelzke and Alan Mohr.
Arlo is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Ernest Redmond and Roger Dreismeier.
