Velma Clasen, 82, of LaMotte, IA, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, IA. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in LaMotte. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home, in Maquoketa. Velma Loraine Lloyd was born on September 22, 1932 in Jones Co., IA to parents Glen and Elsie (Rowell) Lloyd. She was united in marriage with Richard Clasen on November 26, 1955 in Maquoketa. She worked at a bait and tackle shop and Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and at AY-McDonald in Dubuque. She was a past member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMotte, and a member of Petal Pals gardening group in Andrew, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Bellevue. She loved to garden and quilt. She is survived by her sons, Duane Clasen of LaMotte, Mike (Kathy) Clasen of Bellevue, Tom Clasen of Bellevue, and Jerry Clasen of LaMotte, her daughter, Cindy (Kelly) Woollums of LaMotte, her grandchildren: Justin Clasen, Jenee (Ryan) Kettmann and Colton Anderson, daughter-in-law, Dixie Clasen of LaMotte, and her brother, Edward Lloyd of Prairieburg, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her son, Rick, a brother and sister.
