Thomas Thaddeus Sterk, 75 of Maquoketa died on Saturday May 2nd, 2015 afternoon at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 6th, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sugar Creek, with military honors. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 3 to 7PM, at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM. Tom was born on June 1st, 1939 to his parents Ben and Catherine Franzen Sterk in Maquoketa. He married Marilyn Fuller on April 4th, 1964 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sugar Creek, she survives. Tom had served in the US Airforce serving in Okinawa, Japan in passenger service and airfreight. He has farmed all of his life in Charlotte area, and operating Sterk Dozing for many years, and Tom truly enjoyed running his dozer. He liked to attend tractor pulls, stock car races, he loved to drive, he drove cars for Brad Deery, and drove many people around. He was a member of the Spragueville American Legion and the Andrew Amvets. He is survived by two sons; Kevin (Debra) Sterk of Kissimmee, Florida, and Paul Sterk of Charlotte, Iowa four grandsons; Heath, Nathan, Keaton, and Kierre Sterk and four great Grandchildren; Eden, Rilah,Landon, and Ridley Sterk, and a brother Robert (Grace) of Charlotte, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret. Memorials may be given to the church or to Hospice of Jackson County.
