Scott E. Benischek, 44, of Lost Nation went home to his Lord and Savior Monday afternoon, November 18, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation, Iowa. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lost Nation. Burial will be at the Lost Nation Cemetery.
Scott was born January 8, 1969, in Maquoketa, Iowa the son of Steve and Barb (Busch) Benischek. Scott started farming at age 16 with his grandfather Earl Busch. He graduated from Lost Nation High School in 1987. He farmed his entire life in Lost Nation and lived on the Busch Family Century Farm. Scott was also employed for many years by Dick Bumann Farm Supply, Calamus, Iowa.
Scott had been a past volunteer Lost Nation fireman. He was a member of Eastern Iowa Snowriders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was in his glory when he was farming.
Scott is survived by his parents, siblings; Randy Benischek of Des Moines, Brenda (Clark) Kroeger of Long Grove and James Benischek of Lost Nation, special nieces and nephew; Hannah and Luke Kroeger and Marae and Megan Benischek, grandfather Otto Benischek, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and very special friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Esther Benischek; maternal grandparents Earl, Myrtle, and Vonee Busch; and his loyal black lab Alex.
