Rose Nanette Townsend, 68, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Jones Regional Medical Center.

Rose was born on January 8, 1958, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of William W. Parker Sr. and Elissa Marie Kemp. She attended Olin High School. In June of 1976, she married Ronnie Ray Mere Sr.

Throughout her life, Rose held several different jobs, including working as a gas station attendant, at McDonald's, at a truck stop, Door Electric, and babysitting.

Rose enjoyed puzzles, watching game shows and cooking shows, animals, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and family. Her greatest joy came from the moments she shared with those she loved.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dedra (Randy) Johnson of Viola, Stacy Marie Mere (James) of Olin, Ronnie Ray Mere Jr. of Oxford Junction, Joshua Allen Mere (Crystal Anderson) of Olin, Adam Dwayne Mere (Katie Groth) of Olin, and Timothy John Mere of Newton; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother, Elissa Marie Parker; her sister, Vicki Parker; and her brother, Richard "Tammy" LeRoy Parker.

Rose was preceded in death by her father, William W. Parker Sr., a brother William W. Parker Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Gina.

In accordance with Rose's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
