Rosalie E. Creger, 89, of Lost Nation passed away on April 20, 2015 around 2:00 a.m. Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. Her service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. Burial will be held at Lost Nation Cemetery. Rosalie Ethel was born on February 8, 1926 to Howard and Irma (Elisa Nielsen) Wolfe on their farm south of Lost Nation. She attended Wartburg College in Waverly to get her teaching degree. On July 20, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vernon George Creger at the Little Brown Church. She taught school in Smithtown. Rosalie farmed with her husband for many years and was a homemaker. After her marriage she was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation where she served as a Deacon. She made wedding cakes with another sister and loved to garden, sew, and delighted in planting flowers in her rock garden. She was an avid photographer and even had a dark room. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, traveling, and visiting zoos. She was a huge Hawkeye basketball fan. Her favorite foods were strawberries, fresh tomatoes, and corn on the cob. Rosalie always was devoted to her family. Rosalie is survived by her two children; Joan Data of Dubuque and Carol (Ralph) Smith of Omaha, five grandchildren; Randy (Staci) Smith of Anchorage, Alaska, Cathy (Dale) Gray of Louisville, NE, Matthew Vernon Smith of Omaha, NE, Jason Keith Data and Cory Lance Data both of Dubuque, two great-grandchildren; Alicia and Cody Gray, and 15 nieces and nephews. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters; Irene Looney, Dorothy Becker, and infant Gertrude. Memorials may be given to: Union Presbyterian Church, Camp Courageous, or your choice in Rosalie's Memory. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the phone calls, visits, and many cards that friends and family have sent over the years. A special thank you is given to Dr. Sullivan, his nurses, Lorilee and Tabitha, and for her care by the staff at Luther Manor.
