Ronald Elroy Gruenwald, 68 of Lost Nation, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 14, 2014. A funeral celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, March 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Savior Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. Friends and Family may call on Monday, March 17th from 4 -7 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. Burial will take place at Lost Nation Cemetery following the funeral service.
Ronald was born on July 14, 1945 to parents Elroy and Bernice (Ruggeberg) Gruenwald in Maquoketa, IA. He married Linda Chambers on September 8, 1996 in Chicago, IL. Ronald was a life-long farmer in Lost Nation and loved to help his sons in the fields. He bred and raised many All-American Diary Cattle and traveled throughout the country showing his cattle and dogs. He made many friends at these shows and thought of them as his family. Ronald enjoyed watching his family's sporting events and was a fan of Iowa Basketball and the Chicago Cubs. Ronald loved spending time with his Jack Russell Terriers and especially his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda and his children, Tom (Lisa) Gruenwald of Lost Nation, Cary (Tyanna) Gruenwald of Lost Nation and a step-daughter Jennifer Chambers of Brookfield, IL, and his grandchildren; Halie, Hannah, Ryne,Chase, Annavey and Drew and a sister, Lois (Al) Dohrn of Ankeny, Ia. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a grandson, Bryce in 1999.
