Ramona "Mona" Joye Kleeman, 87, of Davenport, formerly of Maquoketa passed away April 18, 2016 at Genesis West in Davenport.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Monmouth Cemetery.

Mona was born on April 1, 1929 in Clarence, Iowa to Martin and Myrtle (Techau) Baute. She graduated from Maquoketa High School, class of 1946. She married Lloyd Kleeman on February 27, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa.

Mona was a bookkeeper and clerk at JC Penney for 22 years until 1988. She was a member of the Monmouth Methodist Church and Maquoketa Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, baking pies, reading, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mona liked to socialize and was part of a sewing club, and card club, and especially enjoyed JC Penny's breakfasts.

She was a volunteer at the Jackson County Historical Museum and was involved in collecting information with her friend Billie Keil for the columns.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Connie (Alex) Herriges of Eldridge, Penny Kleeman of Harlington, Texas, Susan (Mike) Mitchell of Oskaloosa, Amy (Jeff) Murphy of Newton, ten grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and sister Patty Greenwood of Monticello.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd and sister Verlene.

Memorials in her honor may be sent to the Maquoketa Library and the Jackson County Historical Society.
