Marjorie M. Haxmeier, 88. Of LaMotte passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Marge donated her body to the University of Iowa Hospital for research.    A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Marjorie Nemmers was born on December 29, 1927 in LaMotte to Leo and Christina (Hingtgen) Nemmers. On May 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to Ralph Haxmeier at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMotte.

Marge began her teaching career at age 18 in a one room school house in rural Jackson County.  42 years later, she ended her career as a curriculum coordinator for the Dubuque Community Schools.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, the town council, town mayor, and the church council.     Marge promoted the tree planting program in LaMotte.   Marjorie loved to travel with her husband Ralph.  There favorites were trips to Las Vegas, Branson-Missouri, and cruises.   Marge was an avid gardener with a large flower garden along the patio.   She was also an avid Euchre player.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children; Sandra (Cal) Vignes of Bettendorf, Daniel Haxmeier of Aurora, CO, Martin (Gail) Haxmeier of Waterloo, four grandsons and three great- grandsons.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and a sister.
