Marian A. Bramer of Castle Rock, Colorado and formerly of Maquoketa passed away on Nov. 28, 2015. Maquoketa. Funeral services will be held for her life on Sat. Dec. 5, 2015 at 12:00 at the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on Fri. Dec 4, 2015 at Lahey Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa. Marian Augusta Moeller was born on October 25, 1919 in Jackson County Iowa to August & Grace (Yohum) Moeller. She attended rural schools, graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1937 and graduated from Maquoketa Junior College in 1939. She taught school at Rathburn No. 8 in Maquoketa Township for 5 years. She worked one year for the Northwestern Belle Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. Marian was united in marriage to Willis J. Bramer on June 24, 1945 at the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. She taught Sunday school at First Lutheran Church for 25 years, was on the church council & was a member of the Rachel Women's Circle for many years. She helped at many banquets, chicken suppers and social events held at First Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Outlook Club & the Buckhorn Community Guild. She was also very involved in all the hard work & chores that went along with farming. Marian was a dedicated & loving wife, mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother. Her love for baking always was evident especially at birthday time with her beautiful "from scratch" angel food cakes decorated uniquely for each special person. She is survived by her three daughters, LuJean (Lud) Gocek of Nazareth, PA, Brenda Lee (Kim) Rennecker of Castle Rock, CO & Roxi Ann (John) Riley of Missoula, MT; six grandchildren, Joel (Cyndi) Gohlmann of Virginia, Nick (Nicki) Gohlmann of West Virginia, Jessica (David) McDonald of Montana, Phillip Riley of Montana, Angela (Devin) Karr of Montana, Grace Rennecker of Colorado; nine great-grandchildren, Corbin, Chase, Cooper, and Carys Gohlmann, Carter & Cael Gohlmann, Elle & Mimi McDonald & Sylvie Karr; several nephews & nieces in the Maquoketa area. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years; three sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law Helen & Everett Eads, Lois & Junior Hicks, LaRane & Harold Mohr; a niece, Mona Kaye (Mohr) Holmes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice or First Lutheran of Maquoketa.
