Lois A. Biehl, 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Jackson County Public Hospital. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. A Rosary will be recited at 4 P.M. and a vigil service at 7 P.M. Her Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church in Maquoketa. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Maquoketa.

Lois was born on December 17, 1928 in Cascade, Iowa to John (Jack) Sr. and Mayme (Weber) Knapp. She graduated from St. Martin's High School in Cascade, Iowa, then lived and worked in Dubuque where she met her future husband Leo M. Biehl. They were united in marriage on July 21,1955, and were then stationed in Tokyo, Japan and Lincoln, Nebraska while Leo served in the US Air Force. They settled in Maquoketa, Iowa where Lois stayed busy raising her seven children. In 1974 she purchased the Maquoketa Dairy Queen where she and her children worked for many years. She was an active and devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Lois had many creative interests in life. She was a member of the Maquoketa Garden Club and enjoyed cooking, painting, decorating, and other crafts, but her real passion was loving and caring for her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Lois's memory include her husband of 60 years, Dr. Leo Biehl, and her seven children, Beverly (Craig) Van Amburg of Fairbanks, Alaska, Christi (John) Burns of Fairbanks, Alaska, Drs. Robert and (Catherine) Biehl of Dubuque, Bruce Biehl of Maquoketa, Mary (Forrest) Fromm of Bellevue, David Biehl of Dubuque, and Douglas Biehl of Maquoketa; her beloved grandchildren Shawn (Tiffany) Biehl, Liza (Dr. Matthew) Waack, Alissa and Kate Burns, Kailani and Sachi Biehl, Leo Paul Biehl, Maddie Fromm, Abby (Paul) Schuster and Quinn Fromm, Johnny and Lexie Biehl, and her great grandchildren Caleb, Raina, Kiley, Lilith, Isaac, Riley, and River, as well as her brothers, Jack (Venita) Knapp and Richard (Betty) Knapp, sister-in-law Janice Manternach, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Mayme Knapp, brothers William and Robert Knapp, infant daughter Linda, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Biehl.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa or to a charity of your choice.
