Karla R. O'Connell, 58, of Maquoketa, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, surrounded by her family, at home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Family and friends may call on Friday, March 28th, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Maquoketa following the Funeral Mass. Karla Rae Casel was born on August 21, 1955 in Maquoketa, Iowa to John and Eleanor (Wallace) Casel. She was united in marriage on October 11, 1975 to Vincent O'Connell at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, Iowa.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. She worked at area bakeries; Romer's, Dolch's, and Sweet Things Bakery. Also, she worked for Home Health Care and Web Printing in Maquoketa.

She is survived by her husband, three children; Troy (Bobbi) O'Connell of Cedar Rapids, Bryan (Jessica) O'Connell of Cedar Rapids, Trisha (Nate) Davison of Maquoketa, seven grandchildren; Ava, Liam, and Claire O'Connell, Olivia and Lilianna Eichhorn, and Henry O'Connell, and Zoey Davison, three sisters; Monica Kay (Michael) O'Connor of Albuquerque, NM, Mary (James) Beller of Maquoketa, Jean (Rod) Said of Peosta, and one brother Joe (Debra) Casel of Davenport. Karla is preceded in death by her parents. Memorials are preferred.
