Julius L. "J.L." Derynck, 88 of Lost Nation died on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation with visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the service time. Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Lost Nation Cemetery. Julius "J.L." Derynck was born September 8, 1924 in Plainfield, Iowa to Omer and Nooma (Clark) Derynck. He was united in marriage to Fern Creger on October 20, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation. Julius farmed all his life in the Lost Nation area. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation and the National Farmers Organization. He loved to dance, play cards, and work on machinery. He was in the United States Army. Julius is survived by his four children; Stephen (Marsha) Derynck of Pittsboro, N.C., Neil (Shelley) Derynck of Bettendorf, Kay (Edward) Pratt of Lost Nation, and Nancy (Rick) Jaminet of Lynchburg, VA; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, one in infancy and John in 1965; twin brothers and one sister. Burial: Lost Nation Cemetery Burial Day: 03 May 2013
