James R. Murphy, 69, of Sabula passed away September 14, 2016 near Bellevue, Iowa.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Savanna, Illinois, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa is assisting the family.

James Robert Murphy was born on April 2, 1947 in Savanna, Illinois to Dallas Murphy and Harriet Aitken. On April 1, 2006 he was united in marriage to Lori Holm in Clinton, Iowa.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, ginseng hunting and mushroom hunting. He liked to attend flea markets and antique shows. James was a collector of many things especially antiques. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Lori of Bellevue, his siblings; Donna (James) Michl, Richard Wayne Chrest, June (Rom) Sheridan, Judy (Clay) Parker all of Sabula, many children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert, a sister Joan and three children; Kayla, Jason and Jeremy.

Memorials may be given to his family in his honor.
