Hubert Louis Gade, 90, of Wheatland passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Wheatland Manor.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may call on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. at Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland. Lahey Funeral Home is assisting the family with their services.

Hubert Gade was born on August 26, 1924 to Fred and Dena (Strackbein) Gade on their farm in Bennett. He graduated from Lowden in 1942. On December 28, 1946 he was united in marriage to Beulah Horstmann at the Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden. He owned and operated the Lost Nation Produce for a time. He took pride in farming and in serving Wheatland as a rural route mail carrier. He also substituted as a bus driver for the Lost Nation School District.

He was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation where he served as a superintendent for Sunday school and held many other offices. He was a member of the Rural Mail Carrier Association, the Lost Nation Lions Club, the Lost Nation Booster Club, and a fifty year member of Masonic Zealous Lodge #435 of Oxford Junction. He adored his wife and three daughters, and delighted in their beauty. Hubert enjoyed making memories with his family through taking big trips, like traveling to the New York World's Fair in 1960. He loved family gatherings. He lived for his grandchildren, especially supporting all their activities. He always enjoyed smoking his corncob pipe. He was an avid Sheepshead and Euchre player.

He is survived by his wife Beulah of Wheatland, three daughters, Patricia Gade of Lost Nation, Pamela (Al) Richmann of Lost Nation, Greta (Lee) Gade-Gabrielson of Eagle River, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Jamie) Livingood, Nathan Eric Dickman, Aubury (Shane) Dodge, Amanda (Jeff) Holdgrafer, Adam (Amanda Scharff) Richmann, Alex Hagge, Cole Hagge; six great-grandchildren, Reece Dodge, Mya Dodge, Alia Holdgrafer, Case Holdgrafer, Brooklyn Richmann, Ezra Livingood; and one brother-in-law Roger Fox of Mt. Vernon.

Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Fred Jr. and a sister Dorothy Fox.

Memorials may be given to the Union Presbyterian Church in Lost Nation or to Wheatland Manor in his honor.
