On June 22, 1957, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald M. Starry, at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church in Monticello. They shared more than 66 years together before Don's passing in September 2023.Jerie was known for her love of clowns and built an extensive collection over the years, a delight to everyone who visited her home. During the holidays, family and friends looked forward to her famous cookie room, a tradition that brought everyone together and left no one leaving empty-handed. Jerie was no stranger to hard work and spent many years working alongside Don on their family farm. They made many trips to Chicago and Iowa City to cheer on the Cubs and the Hawkeyes. Jerie was also very active with the Lutheran Church in Olin and Pythian Sisters or Auxiliary as many called it. Jerie was a strong woman who cared deeply for others. She cherished her family and the many gatherings filled with laughter, card games, and good company. She loved to joke and poke fun, and those who knew her were never far from a laugh.Jerie was a devoted grandmother. Her grandchildren spent many summers with her and Don, and she never missed a milestone, from graduations to weddings to the arrival of each great-grandchild. Her door was always open, and her love showed up in every visit, every celebration, and every batch of cookies. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Karen (Brent) Podhaski of Eau Claire, WI, and Don (Roxane) Starry of Hartland, WI; seven grandchildren, Brooke (Adam) Johnson, Michael (Coree) Takes, Mitchell (Sarah) Dolley, Jesse, Brandon, Jenna (Matt) Kurkiewicz, and Carlie; and six great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Reese, Charlie, Declyn, Donnie, and Quinn.
