Georgette Husemann, 68, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa.

Georgette was born on January 13, 1958, in Haleiwa, Hawaii, the daughter of George and Dorothy (Kinokeo) Baldwin. Growing up surrounded by the beauty and warmth of the islands, Hawaii was always a special part of who Georgette was. She graduated from Waialua High School.

On May 13, 1998, Georgette married Thomas Husemann Sr. in Honolulu, Hawaii. Although life eventually brought her to Iowa, her heart never wandered far from the islands she called home. She carried the warmth, hospitality, and spirit of Hawaii with her wherever she went.

Georgette spent much of her life caring for others. She worked in childcare and opened her heart and home as a foster parent. She was a devoted mom, caregiver, and the kind of person who made family out of more than just relatives. Lovingly known as "The Auntie to Everyone," there was always room for one more in Georgette's heart.

She loved playing bingo and games, watching and collecting movies, and spending time surrounded by the people she loved. Georgette's greatest joy was her family. She had a warm and welcoming spirit, and those fortunate enough to know her will remember the love, laughter, and little piece of aloha she brought into their lives.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Thomas Husemann Sr.; her children, Shannon (Thomas) Husemann, Shane Kumura, and Shadley (Kimo) Cambra; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sisters, Sandra Baldwin and Sarah Baldwin; her brothers, Lindley Baldwin and Marshall "Tiger" Baldwin; along with extended family and many dear friends, including her best friend, Janet Berg.

Georgette was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Elijah; her sister, Wailana; and her brother, Russell.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Dawson Funeral Services in Maquoketa. There will be a memorial service that will begin at 3:30 p.m., with Maxine Tone officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at Pearson Hall in Maquoketa from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
