Gary Haferbier, 68, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Burial will be at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction.

Gary Edward was born on October 21, 1945, to parents, Edward and Evalyn (Crider) Haferbier in Clinton, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Joyce Depfer on January 4, 1994 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Gary had worked for Clinton Engines and later as a truck driver. He also was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved fishing on the Mississippi River and going to races at Cordova Speedway.

Surviving Gary is his wife, Joyce, and his six children; Eva (Les) Haferbier of North Carolina, Lori (Keith) Weimerskirch of Maquoketa, Iowa, Tracie (Nelson) DeLarm of Cascade, Iowa, Carolyn Depfer, Charles Stewart and Christopher Haferbier all of Oxford Junction, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and siblings; Judy (Dick) Rutherford of Charles City, Iowa and Marilyn (Bob) Vosatka of Sabula, Iowa.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his son, John.
