Faye Bernice Bowman, 90, formerly of Maquoketa, died at her daughter Sue's home in Colorado Springs on April 1, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at East Iron Hill Church. A light reception will follow in the church basement. A burial has taken place and there will be no visitation. Faye was born to Frances (Sutton) Morehead and Howard King Morehead in rural Jackson County on January 18, 1925. She attended country school through the sixth grade, then the family sold their farm and moved to Maquoketa. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. At the end of WWII, she married Gene Bowman, who died in 1994. She was a long-time employee of Jackson County Public Hospital. She loved to dance and was an avid reader, golfer, and card player. Faye also enjoyed travel in her later years. She is survived by her four children: Wanda McGrath, San Antonio, TX; Susan Mulvihill, Colorado Springs, CO; Steven Bowman, Maquoketa; Amy (Mike) Gunn, Bigfork, MT; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, her parents, and siblings Glen, Camilla, Max, Blaine, Blaire, Althea, Roy, and Darlene.
