Evelyn J. Watters, 77, of Maquoketa passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Crestridge Care Center.

Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Petersville.

Evelyn Jean was born on March 13, 1939 to Ed and Gladys (O'Meara) Cleary in Petersville, Iowa. She graduated from Delmar High School in 1957. In her earlier years she worked at the Jackson County Courthouse and then was a homemaker. In 1963 she was united in marriage to Allen Watters. She enjoyed shopping. Evelyn was a jokester and loved to laugh. Her family was the most important thing to her and she cherished her memories with them.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Jeff Watters of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Julie (Mike) Tubbs of Wyoming, four grandchildren; Heather Scott, Lindsay Brownell, Shawn Tubbs, Leif Chadwick-Watters, a great-grandson Trevyn Scott, two sisters; Mary Jane (Joey) Sander of DeWitt, Betty (Gerald) Swanson of Davenport and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters; Pat Oliver, Sally Cleary, Dorothy Cleary, Leona Kieffer and a brother Terrance Cleary.
